United States Vacations – Packing and Airport Security Tips
There is a world of diverse opportunity in regards to United States vacations and packing is something that will depend on where in the country you’re staying and what you’ll be doing. Cheap Vacations America have put together a list of things you’ll want to make sure you consider from a packing and flying perspective, regardless of where you’re traveling from, here they are..
Packing For Your Vacation
Check the area you’ll be visiting before you leave for the United States for average weather. Depending on where you’re coming from, you might need to convert temperatures. In the United States, temperatures are measured in Fahrenheit.
If you live somewhere that measures temperatures in Celsius, you’ll want to look up a calculator. Here’s one: http://www.wbuf.noaa.gov/tempfc.htm. As an illustration, 100 degrees Fahrenheit is just under 38 Celsius.
If you’re visiting more than one area on your vacation, you’ll obviously need to bring a range of clothing. You’ll want to review information from your airline on how much your luggage can weigh without additional fees and this will apply if you’re bringing equipment with you, such as skis or scuba diving equipment. An average (check your airline) airline will allow you a carry-on of a specific size and checked baggage and will have guidelines for additional items.
Carry-On Tips for United States Vacations
In terms of carry-on comfort for any vacation (USA or otherwise), travel suits or travel vests can be an excellent tool. They can have dozens of pockets and help you maximize what you’re able to bring on the plane comfortably as well as give you easy access to items you’ll want with you for the journey. This can include places to keep passport, money, boarding pass, your iPod, even a laptop.
Pack Light…
Be sure to leave room in your baggage for souvenirs and be sure you review what you’re allowed to bring back with you so you don’t inadvertently buy something for bringing home that’s not allowed to leave the country.
Flying – US Airport Security
When planning United State Vacations, airport security is a concern for many. It definitely adds extra time to getting processed through the airport as you arrive or as you leave the United States. You’ll want to familiarize yourself on the items you’re allowed to carry onto the plane as well as be aware of how things work so you can get through it swiftly and with as minimal aggravation as possible.
Laws have dramatically tightened since the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the USA. You’ll need to review a list of the items you’ll have to put in checked luggage versus carrying on your person. Your airline should supply this. In general, you can’t bring anything that could be perceived as a potential weapon, of course, but be sure you understand what’s not allowed.
You’ll also be limited in the type of toiletries you can carry. Three ounce or less containers are required and there are additional guidelines, depending on where you’re traveling to and from so be sure to familiarize yourself with guidelines to save hassle at the airport.
A good rule of thumb is to plan to buy most personal hygiene toiletries while you’re at your destination (of course your hotel will likely supply many of in your room as a value-added service).
In your excitement for United States vacations, people are strongly encouraged to stop and read everything related to packing and airport security supplied by your airline to minimize aggravation and help get through as swiftly as possible.
